how this works

what counts as a launch: a debut is a new game charting for the first time and hitting 20k+ ccu within 72 hours. a surge is an existing game that doubles its usual daily ccu and adds at least 15k — normally a big update.

how we measure the dip: we take the 20 biggest games right before the launch and compare each one to its own normal — its average for that same weekday and hour over the previous four weeks. bigger games count for more.

worth knowing: chart rank shifts on its own when a new game slots in, so we measure ccu, not rank. roblox inflates player counts on its discovery feed, so we take the middle reading across sorts. launches within a week of each other are kept out of each other's numbers. and a launch can grow the total audience instead of just splitting it up — check the share chart against raw ccu before calling it stolen players.
